new rod suggestions

Hi guys,
My rod is in desperate need of upgrade. After a few years of TLC its starting to breakdown. It was my first good rod (catana). Ive been looking around at some rods but one which really impressed me was the abu garcia veritas. I had a feel of it at a bream night and loved it. I cant seem to find it online so I cant figure out its price?(150-200??). If anyone has suggestions it would be greatly appreaciated.
Preferred spec- 7 foot+ , 2-4 kg, 2 piece
Mostly will be used landbased for bream and flathead and hopefully a rod strong enough to handle a small jewie or king. Would probably be paired with a stradic or a caldia. Price range is 100-200.

Thanks
Mike

Thumbs up

Hey mate. I got the mrs one a couple of yrs ago and they are a sweet rod. She uses it for squiding. I use it for the snaps throwing plackys. Berry tough rods. Good value for money imo.

Hey Mike, take a look at the Daiwa generation black or the Shimano T-Curve range. Both within your price range and have there own distinct feel. Best bet is to go to a good tackle store which stocks both ranges (+others) pick them up and have someone put a Stradic or caldia in desired size on a few rods and see what feels best for you.

Good luck, always good fun getting new gear!

I believe the Abu Veritas retail between $130-150 (not 100% sure on that).

I would personally go the Daiwa Generation Black Itchy Twitchy 1.5-3kg 6'10" if I was you. Great rods.

Also, Samiki have some great rods in this range.

You also have the Team Daiwa X rods. They make a design exactly like the itchy twitchy, just it feels one step better in my opinion. Great rods for the $200 mark.

Thanks mate. Ive considered the gen black but its 2 piece version splits at the top of the handle/cork. (or around there ). This would just be too inconvenient for me. What is the T-curve good for? ( e.g. has it got a soft tip etc ) I've had a look at them aswell.
cheers

Thanks mate, I had a look at the team daiwa x rods and they look great. Do you think a Samiki would be better then the daiwa x rods?
Thanks

I have personally used the Team Daiwa X and I loved it. Perfect for an all rounder. Power in the butt section with a light tip to aid in long casts. Generally, a great rod to use as an all rounder (until mine had a fight with a gate... and lost).

I have not used the Samiki Rods so I cannot comment on them. Forsterfisho would be able to help you with them

Abu Veritas goes for around 150 from many main stream shops.
The best way is to find the reel you want, put it on what ever rods your looking at and see how if feels. Its the best way. Finding the balance and get the shop bloke to load up the rod and see where the tip ends and power starts.

LCR, the Gen Blacks do a 1pce, 2pce and also travel if you aren't a fan of the two piece. The 2 pce splits in roughly the middle on the Gen Black's, they split lower down on the daiwa tournament bream models though.

T-curve is a good rod also and will do everything the Daiwa can, its a holden vs ford argument this one.

Everyone likes a specific feel of rod, need to go to a tackle store and try a few.

All the best.

The gen black 2pc all split in the middle except the 7'6. To me the gen blacks are the best value for money

Hi fellers,
Which of the daiwa generation black rods would suit pinkie fishing eg, the rod needs to have a good back bone but a sensitive tip and will be fitted to a 2500 size reel.
Fish size range from 28cm to 50cm.
I havent had a chance to have a play with one yet but by the reviews ive read they seem like a top rod.
Thanks.

2-6kg wild weasel

Although I've used the itchy twitchy 1-3kg with 2000 reel on plenty of snapper to 45cm, admittedly open water with zero structure
