Lox Yoshi Wooden Reel Seat Spacer

Hi,

Picked up a new Lox Yoshi LS7023 rod following some recommendations from this forum.

I had to remove plastic protectors from the corks and it looked like there was one on the reel seat spacer as well. If so its a bugger to get off. Any one know if they come with a plastic shop protector or if it is just the coating? If so, the wood insert doesn't look anything like the wood grain on their website, just looks like dark graphite? Might of starched coating a little as the missus and i both thought it was a protector.

Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks,

matt

I'm pretty sure it is just the coating as my rod was the same. But the latest models seem to be a bit different in the reel seats compered to the earlier models...

Hey Matt,

The latest shipment that arrived in Aus have a carbon look insert rather than the wood grain one.

Cheers,
Matt

Mattman,
You are correct. The new Yoshi's do have a black carbon reel insert (looks a bit strange). I thought it was black protective plastic covering the wood grain spacer as per the pictures online and in the catalogue. Scratched the spacer trying to get it off.
I let the company know that they should update their site and advise retailers as it really does look like plastic covering to avoid anyone else being as stupid as me.

Yup as said its a carbon insert I have a Yoshi with the wooden insert, and felt one with the carbon insert recently, it looked pretty cool and I didn't mind the carbon insert at all.
