New rod

Just after an opinion on what rod to buy. I'm after a light bream rod that I want to match with a Stradic ci4 1000. Looking to spend 200-250 bucks give or take a bit if you think it's worth it. Just for use with hard bodies mainly. Any opinions would be helpful. Thanks in advanced.

Hey Clay.

There are hundreds of differnt bream rods out there.
Short,long,stiff,sloppy,1-3,2-4,2-5kg, fast action, slow action, k-guides,recoils etc etc.

It all depends on your preferences.

Are you looking for an all rounder ? or a specific rod eg: hard body rod, soft plastics rod.

How big are the bream in your area ? Do you mainly fish flats or structure ?

The rod you use makes a HUGE difference to your catch rate. I honestly reckon my fishing improved 100% once i found the right that suited my style of fishing (plastics only).

I always worry about that small piece of pointless cork on the end of them. Seems brittle, but nevertheless a nice lookin rod. Do u find them really soft ?

I have had mine for over a year now and have not had one single problem with it at all, and I bloody flog my gear. I would say go to your local store with your reel and see what you like best, if you have $250 to spend you are crazy going for a $95 pfluger trion...

Have you considered Major craft rods. I just purchased a K.G. Lights Ajing model from Japan, it cost me $220 deliver from plat. The rod is a 7', 2 piece rated at 2-6lb. They features a Solid tip, Fuji SIC titanium k series guides, Fuji vss reel seat and the blanks are amazing with a high quality finish. I'm running a 2004 Luvias so your Stradic would suit it perfectly. I can send you through some pics if your interested. Similar spec rods would cost over $500. Outstanding value.

The Pfleuger Trion is a great value for money rod, seems funny a lot of people who have them have multiples.
I currently have 3 of the 7" 1-3kg trions, all matched to 1000 size Stradics.

A couple of others to look at are the Daiwa Generation Black or the Samaki

Is that the Series 2 ? I nearly bought one of them on looks and build quality. I went the Psyborg due to skeleton grip and casting. But still have my eyes on the Tairyo Nano 2....... To the OP you need to really pick up each rod, have a look then buy. It is what i did anyway.

I recon a samaki zing 4-8 lb would fit the bill perfectly, i use mine for both hard and soft baits and love it, also leaves plenty extra for quality braid and leader
