hey,
I was recommended to join up here by Jiggy who i have known for a while. I started fish'n for bream with me old man, a good 13 years ago using the old mustad bait holder hooks, with a whole prawn on a running sinker. Set the line and wait till u can see some play. Probably back then the most effective method of landing yourself a decent size black bream. From what i recall some of those bream where well over 2kg and guess what.........i will even pull some old picks out and scan them up for you, that if age hasnt gotten to them first Anyway i always buy my fisho mags, Western Angler, Saltwater fishing and especially anything to do with Black Bream on it. One day noticing a large article in one of the mags on Bream with HB's. Now i have always, always been a huge fan of lure fishing and in my books take more patients, more skills and you get much bette rewards, so mee been my self grabbed my tackle box which over the years i had stocked with all sorts of lures, jigs, slices you name it i had it and half of them had never been used. Off i went middle of the day to the Blackwall Reach side of Point Walter, i thought to myself i gutta start somewhere so flatties will be the go. well i masterd the flatty, now im on to the deadly bream bigtime so bad i can go to sleep with thinking of landing a bream. My success has been minimal so far with a few fish been landed in the swan and canning and my best yet was a 1.4kg 47cm Blacky from the canning, which i gave a hug and then chucked him back of course. Now i have no money my gear is minimal....an old unnamed cheap 5.6 rod, old shimano cx2000 real bunched with a slowly deteriorating 2kg Penn line. My jigs have run out, especially my favourite shads, and my time has bene limited due to tafe. but the though of giving your line one little jerk and bang your hooked on a lean mean swan river bream then damn i am keen for a fisho anytime. Nice site guys keep up the good work very informative and may be using your online shop soon! Last edited by iamblakey; 09-03-2004 at 06:12 AM. |

Hi Blakey, guess what? You are hooked on bream - what a damn shame. Hope you don't turn to crime to pay for your habit! It's almost like that i reckon - there is so much cool stuff to buy and try.
Seems like you have not only nailed the big ones on bait but have scored a good sized bream on lures too. That 1.4kg bream is no light horse. Di you get a photo? Congrats on your catch, keep up the good work and welcome to the awesome world of bream master.
