Experience in tri hulls please
Hi guys i am currently in the market for a new boat and have been seriously considering a boat made.by avalon, a custom job very similar in shape to the 4.1 aussie whaler.
I was wondering if.anyone had any experience with these, particularly in conditions similar to those of moreton bay. I have test driven the boat however apart from the wake from other small boats there wasn't any chop. My main question is how would these boats go in say a choppy moreton bay considering they have low free board. I understand they won't be perfect but provided they won't leave me stranded if the wind kicks up out there i am very interested in getting one. Thanks

I understand these are not offshore boats and rarely if ever would i be going outside in one but i do regularly fish moreton bay and hervey bay so knowing i could handle the choppy conditions often encountered in.those.areas is a must.

Looks interesting mundz... Does it handle that much better than your current rig? Anything that length won't enjoy a decent bay wind/swell, especially with how low and flat it looks. I don't often take the stratos out in the bay in much more than 20 knots/2metres and it's pretty good through the chop. In saying that in good weather you could fish the bay in an inflatable row boat.... I saw blokes out as far as the four beacons in a 3.5 metre tinny not long ago! Let us know how you go.

Its lower then my old boat only marginally though but in the test run it was definetly much softer riding and the minimal chop i did encounter it handled better and was drier. i took my 399 proline out in absolute rubbish conditions and was probably genuinely worried once but i was familiar with how to drive it.
When i test drove this new one i.noticed when i eased back the throttle the nose sat right up and it would take a pretty big wave to break over it. was just curious if anyone had handled one in some pretty choppy conditions and there thoughts.
