Years ago i used to use tuna oil/garlic/aniseed and a coloured die (PURPLE/PINK) I just dipped my plastic's tail in the solution every 20 or so casts (bloody did all right to) I have not made it for years but try

65% tuna oil
30% minced garlic
5% aniseed
Then just add the die till it changes colour
If you want it for lures DONT ADD DIE!
Then keep it in a jar so you can just dip your plastic in it.

Dont know if that was the exact measurements and i have linseed oil running through my head (might have been a bit of that in there as well was a while ago) but give it a go, It worked back in the days when plastics were crap so should do better now! you even have inspired me to have another crack myself. Let me know how you go

I usually just grab an old Vegemite jar and stick a few plastics in it. The night before I go fishing I take the lid off the jar, fart in it and then quickly put the lid back on.

Correct! and it leaves a colour trail off the plastic as you work it through the water (looks cool) but you have to reload every 20 casts or so to keep that trail happening. I used this method when i was ridding my push bike so it was a while ago but IT WORKED!! I caught fish on tough days and like i said the plastics in those days were laughable really. Im sure if you play around a bit with the mix you will find what works for you at your local

Plastics were a bit of a joke back in the day. But really there is no real difference Between the old curly tail grubs from back then to the grubs we have now. It wasn't that long ago that dudes would laugh at me for whipping out the plastics and start flicking inbetween their baits. At least I think that's why they were laughing at me!

Though when we were younger we used to boil up aniseed and mix that with brine to use as scent. Wasn't as successful as the fart in the Vegemite jar though.

Yeah i used to get funny looks flicking plastics back in the day. But it was easy to hide a pack of plastics and lures and a telescopic rod in your schoolbag and forget to go to school, mum was none the wiser and i made some $$ on the side selling bream/flathead/mullet/barracuda/pinkie snapper to the old Greeks on the piers/rock walls (well i couldn't take the fish home)
Never tried the Vegemite jar trick but hey what ever floats your boat

Maybe you could mix one of the said recipies into a animal fat type substance like dripping left over from when ya mum frys up some chips or even use a paraffin wax base like petroleum jelly or Vaseline.

Just grab a Vegemite jar put some vas or drpping in it and then mix your stuff in. Don't forget to fart in it and put the lid back on quick.
