I've not used them mate so can't really comment but pretty sure if you do a search there has been a few comments on them, most of them not positive from what i have seen.

Ive read a few bad things about them.
However having said that, i picked one up the other day for the first time and was pleasantly suprised.

I wouldnt mind myself and for 200 bucks i reckon is a good deal.

they are not a bad rod as such but u are paying to have the loomis sticker on the rod.
For less money there are much better rods IMO, Daiwa gen black and green Arrow rods are 2 that I have, they cost less than the GL2 and IMO are much better rods.

They're not a bad rod despite the inevitable comparison with the GLX models. Any comparison between the two is a bit like comparing a Ford Focus to an XR8. They're both Fords and they'll both get you from A to B but they're not the same and not really comparable if you're picky.

The GL2s don't cost as much as the GLXs, so any rational individual would not expect them to be as crisp.

I own couple and primarily use them for bush bashing for bass. They have never let me down. However in saying that I feel their RRP is about $50 too high for their quality.

As good and as bad as any other rod in the price bracket I reckon.

Great rods
People who compare them to glx don't know DohDohDohDoh
It like comparing a beat up barina with a Lamborghini

Great rods, great action at a great price

Yeah I'm with Nagz (that's gotta be a first ) I got one for my old man for his birthday and I reckon it's brilliant for the money, it's forgiving, but definitely no noodle.

I just bought the gl2 baitcaster and i love it, it feels tough as in your hand i recon, i prefer a bit more weight in my baitcasters, its no where near as good as my glx but as said above its not a fair comparison, and i will definately be getting another

Haven't used the gl2's personally but have had a play with most of the models and they don't seem to bad. Remember the main marketing plea with these rods is that they were tested and designed for Australian fish, techniques and conditions. Cheers,

Luke

hahaha good question mate. According to the loomis website they won 'best for of show' at AFTA 2011. Surely that means something
