Shimano Soare 2500HGS

Hey all, I came across one of these that has been sitting a tackle store for ages. They offered it to me for $550. Good deal? Any one know if it still a current model? Couldn't find much info on them. Any info appreciated.

Cheers.

they are an old model shimano reel but are a top reel. You could probably get them to go lower than $550 though

Shimano Soare BB 2500HGS - 2008 model.

$150 AUD inc postage if you look at evalbay. Less than 1/3rd the price.

Pretty sure there a 2 versions. Was it the Ci4 or the BB? The Ci4 is more expensive.

I had a deposit on on one for around that price but gathered a bit extra and got a Stella. I'm happy.

As G says the BB is a totally different reel. BB stands for Blood Brother, it looks the same but is a budget reel with budget internals. The proper Soare is a top quality reel.

Mate send me a PM there is an online shop based in Sydney that has them for almost half that for the 1000 and 2500. I bought a 1000 about 6 months ago they were $379 then but still cheap. You will not find a better reel for that money. Delivery was quick and registered mail from memory. They are JDM stock though so no English user manual.

HGS = High Speed Shallow Spool
PGS = Low Speed Shallow Spool

PGS was only 1000 size in the Soare
HGS was only 2500.

Yep. Should be HGS. Checkout the ratio of 6:1. That is high by most measures. Hard pressed to find anything faster. Great for plastics.

Thanks everyone appreciate the info. It was definitely not the BB model, still will give it a miss from the local and look at them online. It was definitely an extremely nice reel and if you can get them for $300 online I'm surprised more people aren't using them.

Ive got the 1000 model and it is awesome!! Coolest sounding drag

I got mine from OS for use on trout and it has performed way better than I could ever of expected.

$300 locally is an insane price, certainly cant go wrong with it
