Rob

Spend a little more and get a Strudwick Sik Stic for $160. I can vouch for it - great starter and just that bit better that those for the $120 mark.

Cheers

the first rod that i bought specifically for breamin was a squidgy spin ( have upgraded twice since ) and i would recommend these as a good first rod, shop around as they can be found as cheap as $95.00. or if you like the shorter one ( stella ) for the same price.

Thumbs up

I just got an Abu Garcia Morron Braided for only $83. Pretty good. If I see you Sunday and you haven't already purchased a rod, you are welcome to give it a go.

Hi,
I hate to get all pernicketty about spelling but the rod you are referring to is, I think, called a 'Morrum' . As an ABU enthusiast, I found your spelling a little too close to 'moron' for my liking
Only joking. Hope it serves you well.
Cheers,
Rigzz

Gday.
Id have a look at the Daiwa Proycon 1-3kg or 2-4kg.
Great rod for the price.
Id also have a good look at a Shimano Stella.
Both these rods are availiable from Breammaster.com

Cheers

Dave

Having had my Abu Garcia Morrum for about 2 months now, well, I wouldn't say it is the best rod. It is OK, usable for a starter but is not really that light compared to some of the others around. There are heaps of lighter and better ones around. Cheap and ok if you are on a tight budget. I have since seen and used other people's rods and compared them and it gets depressing so much so I don't want to know what they have for now. Later on when I get better and right into lure fishing, I will have to upgrade.

In my opinion, if you can afford to, spend a bit more on the better rods and reels (even for beginner) and in the long run, you save some money. The Abu Morrum is ok for someone new going from a fibreglass rod to a graphite rod, it looks cool feels ok, but after a short while, and starting to fishing with others with better rods, one craves for a better one. To me there is no point in having a whole wide collection of rods/reels, better to have them in the lures! Selling your rod/reed to upgrade you tend to loose out, waste of money. If you can afford to, go all the way out. Yes, I heard that the Strudwick is pretty good.
