Nories 67 Speed Peak or Megabass Lycaon 68?
Seeking some advice from anyone who has used either of these. I'm looking for the ideal rod for light hardbody work. Mostly for smaller subsurface jerkbaits like Eco MX 48s up to Laydowns ect and smaller cranks like SX 40s through to Khamsin Jrs.
It will be used primarily for targeting blackies on the flats and riverbank but also possibly some kayak work as well, although I see this one more as a wading specialist. I realise it's only 6'7" but I'm currently using a Megabass Shoreluck 6'4" with good success in this situation. I find that the length isn't a problem but the action with the Shoreluck does max out a little a bit on the cranks. Although rated a bit heavier the other thing I was considering for the job is a Lycaon FO-68XS?? This might possibly be the better option. Although I'm really sold on the Nories stuff and already have several rods in the rack, since owning the Shoreluck I'm amazed that such a fine tipped rod can load up so well. The other consideration is that I really like the idea of 2 piece rods for ease of transportation. Any genuine thoughts or opinions greatly appreciated - Cheers Paul

I have a couple of the Phase II F0 6'8'' Lycaons. Great rods and I use them for pretty much anything. They have a soft tip and a fairly fast action which is good for the smaller hards and plastics.
Honestly I'd rate the newer Phase III F0 6'8'' Deep Throat as a better rod. Many will agree that they are one of the best all round Breaming rods available. Ask kyle he just got one.  I haven't used that Nories. They make great rods though, they are up there with the best rods like Megabass , Ever Green etc... I'm thinking my next flats rod may be a Nories.

Yes I agree, the Deep Throat is amazing!! It is the best all rounder ive got, and thanks to someone ^^ im looking at more Megabass now!!!
Either way im sure you wont go wrong

I know daiwafreak got one f the speed peak rods about a month ago and sold it brand new on here last week or so might wanna ask him about it was up in the classfields they are a trout rod the norries speed peak so many be a very parabolic rod. I recon for bream the deep throat would be better

Thanks for the responses - appreciate the info - it sounds more the like the MB is what is required in the circumstances. Does anyone have a link to some info on the phase III 'Deep Throat'. (Jeez - sounds like a Linda Lovelace special

The Nories Speed Peak has a slow-moderate action with a fast-extra fast taper and was specifically designed for trout spoons ect. The rod feels a little too slow in action for light hardbody work for bream in my opinion, you would want something with a more gutsy bottom-mid section.
