Cork or EVA grip?

Hi guys,

I seem to be prefering EVA grips these days over cork - infact i no longer have any cork grip rods.
What do you lot prefer? Happy new year to all....

I run a mixture of both, I don't really think it makes much difference. With the look of modern rods Eva probably looks cooler but that's about it. I'm pretty sure nobody can say the key to getting their bag was the grip on the rod

The opposite actually mate I used to run daiwa/megabass/samurai rods and reels for all my native fishing but something clicked one day and I was worried to mark the Eva and blanks ect so I decided to go with a shimano and loomis approach and it just felt a lot more solid, like I could throw it around and wouldn't hurt it, now cork is all I run as that's what loomis use long story shot cork is all I use now HNY

I much prefer cork myself. I think it's easier to clean than EVA and I think it looks better with a bit of wear than EVA. I also think that cork offers slightly more sensitivity. Cork also looks much nicer, IMO.

It really depends.

Some Eva is awesome but some are absolutely crap. I hate the grips on the samurai rods, the material is way too hard, but other Eva grips can feel like a million dollars.

Even more so with cork, some cheap corks just wear down quick and feel bad, whereas some other high grade corks feel better than anything else. I probably prefer cork grips overall so long as they arnt that cheap nasty stuff.

I used to like cork, and over the last 2years have been a fence sitter...
now I find the ergo's on some eva grips to die for!
cheap lil' gen blacks felt better in my hand then a loomis

I also find cork on a very fast taper rod is a bit rough on the wrist after imparting lots of action continously, especially using walk the dog lures for long sessions (feels like im getting rsi or carpel tunnel lol)

but hey its all personal preference

From a performance point of view it really doesn't matter now days modern eva is just as light and sensitive as cork, it all comes down to personal preference and what you like the look/feel of.

Years ago eva was a bit soft and heavy and dulled the feel of the rod down and wasn't really the best choice for finesse or lighter line class rods that's why cork was more common on these style rods.

I always hated the idea of cork handles until I bought a rod with them.

Now I'll never use eva again, except on my squid gear.

All my bream rods have aero reel seats and no foregrip.
So I guess I prefer no grips.

EVA or rather air-foam grips all the way. Had a few cork grips but slowly getting rid of them for EVA these days, I think they feel much nicer and age much better than cork.
