Mojico leader.
How you going fellers.
I've always used nitlon leader but I'm willing to give others a go so when I was at anaconda about a year ago and saw they had their own leaders. I bought a 12lb spool and used it for pinkies , salmon and squid, I was pretty impressed with the stuff so I bought 10lb and 8lb as well which I've been using for ages now and still very impressed. The other day I bought 6lb which I haven't used yet but I did tie it to braid and it pulled strong and smooth. For $6.95 for 50mtrs how can you go wrong. Actually I got the 6lb spool at 60% off with the sale anaconda have atm. |

I've ever only bought one spool of the Mojiko leader and it was in 8lb. Used it for snapper and then encountered a decent school of big fish. Lost something like 10 fish that day out of 12 hooked due to line failure. It just kept breaking. At first I thought I was outgunned but then I changed to a Japanese brand leader (forget which name) and didn't lose another due to line breakage. Never put it on again and will never buy Mojiko again.

I've just disposed of a 4lb & 6lb spool of this mojiko garbage too many line breakages. Never had a problem with any other brand.

I'm guessing you think its too light... And seeing as you're in Sth Aus, well, the snapper here are not quite in the same league as the ones you get in Sth Aus so 8lb is sufficient (as long as its not Mojiko). Plus I release all my snapper above 3kg anyway so its more for the sport of it.
I can't quite see the logic of skimping on leaders and jigheads. Logically assessing it, you would've spent anywhere from $500 to $1000 on your rod and reel, another $2k for a kayak or WAY more for a boat, taken leave (off work) at whatever your daily rate is, being conservative say, $200 a day just to go and try and get a fish of a lifetime, and you skimp on leaders and jigheads to save $15 only to continually lose big fish after big fish? |

Just speaking from personal experience... What could have easily been my best fishing session ever was ruined by a dodgy leader.
Also stay away from the Kieru stuff you can get on ebay. Just a few days ago a friend was using the Kieru 12lb leader and lost 2 big fish with the leader snapping right in the middle after no more than a 2 second fight. Now, I've used 8, 10 and 12lb leaders and there's no way a 12lb leader should break like that. The fish pulled the drag a little and the line just snapped under pressure. |

I use it for pinkies to 50cm and good size salmon. I also use it for squiding mainly so I don't lose jigs if they get stuck. I also use nitlon for the same stuff and all of them have performed well. I use the 4 , 6 , 8 lb for fresh water and so far so good. Maybe when I get into the bream ill notice the difference cause I know how hard they can pull on light line and leader. Which leader do use. Thanks. |

I've had a few bad experiences with mojiko line.
Tried some 6lb braid but was getting line breakage on very light drags and tightening knots. Went back to fireline for a while before finally going to sunline castaway. Tried some mono and found the diameter excellent for stated breaking strain but again had problems with breakages. Haven't been game to try the fluoro or mono leader |

i have been using the mojiko braid on my light mojiko 1-2kg rod and have caught a 62cm tailor and recently a 47.5cm jack. both using 2lb braid but with 6lb berkley vanish leader. i have complete confidence in it holding up.
