What reel for nitro rod?

Hey guys getting a nitro distance spin for Christmas and wondering what reel I should get? Happy to save for a real nice reel, but would also look at cheaper options.
Thanks

Nitro rods are very light so you need a reel that balance well with rod, best is take rod in your local tackle shop and try few reels,
My options would be 2500 ballistic or freams they both awesome little reels

Mate the Distance Spin is really only a 2-4kg rod, so i'd put a 2500 on it. i run a Ci4 2500/3000 on mine, but the Sustain would also be great, maybe for a bit more weight try a Rarenium.

What do you prefer the freams or the ballistic? I'm a bit torn between those two the Caldia and the Stradic ci4.
Do those daiwa come with a spare spool? Thanks

Another vote for a 2500 size reel for a distance spin.

I run a 3000 sized daiwa on my magnum butt and she balances beautifully.

I run a 2011 Caldia 2500 on my Black label 7'6" and it works very well for me. Even though the distance spin my be a little lighter it should still be a nice combo with this reel ... with the value of a second spool for straight through fluro. Good luck with your choice. Regards. HBt.

I think the exist is about out of the budget ATM haha
Thanks for all the help,I'm a bit torn between the Stradic ci4 2500 or Caldia. Are the the 2500 size daiwa the same size as the shimano 2500?

I'd be looking at the Daiwa Emeraldas 2506 for that rod length. Really depends though on how much $$$$ you want to part with.

Try a Rarenium 2500 if the budget allows, i got one a few months back not really knowing alot about them. I have not regreted it at all, they come with a spare spool that is handy. I use 6lb sunline on mine but spooled up the spare with 12lb mono for when i head out chasing KG's and had a run a few weeks back hitting a patch of mid size snapper (during the bloody ban of course) & handled really well as i was using a 2-4kg Ian Miller Bream 691. The drag is more than capable for Bream & is quite user friendley were your not winding the Knob for ever to apply drag or loosen it off,it seems to let line off nicely aswell as wind on without any dramas at all. There quite a well weighted reel & if you carry a spare rod with a cheaper reel you will notice the diffrence as soon as you grab the spare, anyway go with what feels good to you not what everyone else says or the guy trying to sell it to you, your the one that has to use it. CHEERS
