UL plastics rod on a budget

So hello, I'm after a dedicated rod for unweighted and light plastics - 1/8oz would be the absolute max jighead I'd be using for this outfit, generally I'll be using anything from 1/32 to 1/12, so it's likely this rod would have a 1-3kg line rating. For the time being at least this rod would be exclusively for land-based applications I would prefer it to be at least 6'10 up to 7'6 and much prefer it to be a 2 piece as well. I prefer cork grips but am not extremely fussed in this area.
And I'm on a budget - Let's call it $150.

The problem for me here is there are many available rods that somewhat fit the above description, but with this end of the market you don't often get too much info re actions and the like. (I'm after a fast action, although not extremely fast as I'm still somewhat noobish and would prefer something a little more flexible and forgiving). Ideally I'd probably be getting a Lox Yoshi 7023 but the price and reputation for being extremely susceptible to accidental damage to the tip means I'll probably save this for the inevitable upgrade or an addition to the stable when the time comes and if it still suits.

So yeah I would love to hear some suggestions, first hand experiences etc.
Thx yall.

Have a look at the Raider Soft plastic 7'3" 2 piece.

Fastish action, 2 piece, cork grips. Would be better if it was slightly lighter in the tip, but handles 1/16th easily and 1/32 reasonably well. Unweighted just - but maybe I just need lighter braid to fish those better or I might be expecting too much.

Just buy the LOX Yoshi that you mentioned in your opening post. They're not as fragile as people would have you believe, not now at least. If you did manage to break a tip, which is a possibility regardless of which rod you end up buying, it's just a matter of forking up your $60 for a replacement tip.

I love my 7' LOX Yoshi. I own a smorgasboard of expensive top end rods, yet the LOX gets more work than all of the others put together.

You know you want one.

have a look at the Austackle featherlight 1-3 kg 7" perfect rod for the applications youv listed.
RRP $145 the gen blacks are nice the featherlight will have a slightly slower action without being a complete noodle stick.

Another very nice rod.

I have owned both trion and the 2-4kg has a much faster action the 1-3 kg is a noodle and more suited to hard bodies, the 2-4kg Was my fav rod under $150 till the generation blacks came out

If you on a real and i mean real budget, not pushed above your budget, then the Silstar Arctic Rods are crazy. Believe it or not i got a DohDohDohDoh Outdoor Expedition Camo Strike Rod etc really excellent finish to it and it has Fuji reel seat and Fuji Alconite Guides with labels, full Graphite etc for $40 down from $80. They also have a 5 year warranty ! They are regularly half price, but have a much better finish than the Ananconda Tourament Rods. They are smooth finish no different to Dropshots etc. They have are light, sensitive but for some reason have a high rating as in 3-6kg rating for a 662 rod but is lighter and more sensitive than my 7.02m 2-5kg rod. Yes i know its a lil shorter but it is really noticeabally strong. I bought it for my kid realising that it was too good for them hehe. Might get another. There are some Gems out there.

Otherwise the Austackle looks like the next rod i would grab.

Very tempting and I'm sure it is a cracking rod, but I think too many cons in this case (over budget, 1 piece, EVA, on the short side). Definitely keep the series in mind for future purchases.

Still on the cards and I wasn't sure of the replacement policy so that definitely helps. If I'm going to break the budget for a rod, this would probably be it.

Hi Dan - in your thread you mention that the rod you would most compare the featherlight to is a 702 XL... a rod I already own

Regarding the Trions, Raider SP and the like. These have definitely crossed my mind and I'll be investigating these among others when I get to replacing my current 'all rounders' (which currently leave much to be desired: a Daiwa Crest 6102ML for boat bashing, a Sahara for anything and everything and a Catana 702SP which hardly ever leaves the garage these days)

1-3 kg 7' dominator from Austackle, med slow to med action very whippy which I find is good to get a bit of momentum going when casting really light plastics.
If you are worried about the med slow action you could go the 1-3 kg 7' fire blade a med fast action rod.
I was really surprised at how well the finished the rods are considering the $150 to $179 RRP.
Yeah I have the banner under my name but I am a field staffer so I still pay for my gear like everyone else so I wouldn't by em if I didn't like em!

Your talking split Eva grips and Custom Incremental Geared (CIGX) reel seat, it's like a click adjust when you crank the reel screw down so you don't over tighten the reel seat, it also means it doesn't come loose. Fuji guides and IM 7 to IM8 blanks depending on what model of rod you get.

Brand new for less than what you can buy a second hand rod with the specs.

The generation blacks are 139 at ray and Anne's in Adelaide. I've got the swamp donkey and getting either the 1-2/1-3kg tomorrow. And probably a pinster as well. The reason I'm buying them is I can actually go into my local and have a feel, rather than go by other people's thoughts and wing it with an online purchase.
