They are good rods. Have a look at the new Daiwas before you buy anything though. The Bream Specialist and Harrier are very good for the money. Picked up the Bream specialist rods and was very impressed with the blank quality.

Yeah I love my samurai 101 but if you think that's a lot of $$ to spend then you should definitely look around. If you want the ultimate rod for long casts it is hard to beat though. Chief is right on, I would look at the tournament bream specialist they are excellent rods. I think austackle makes really nice affordable gear. Check em out and make sure to have a look at the samaki and lox range.

Have a look at the new samaki k2's if u can. Had a play with one yesterday, a very nice lightweight rod. They do have quite small micro guides though. Would be dining if you were running straight thru fluorocarbon though.

+1 for samaki K2 being awesome I have it on my list. I have the zecton. the Samaki ZRT feels great too but it's $500. If you want something like the samurai 101 or lox yoshi try the nordic stage sharpshooter, that might be to your liking. And yeah if you look around you might find a good deal on all those rods.

I've got to agree with TheChief, Samurai's are truly amazing rods, but the quality of the new Daiwa tournament bream is amazing. Awesome blank, fuji K-guides, quality and comfortable butt for roughly $320, definitely a look at.

Love my samurai, well worth the money! Once you own a good rod like that you can feel the value, sensitivity and control!

Heres what i did.
1. Bought a 2 piece 101. 2. Eagerly awaited it's arrival. 3. It came, unpacked it and i rigged it up. 4. Took it out the very next morning. 5. Large bream on first cast, felt like a garden hose full of jelly. 6. Packed it straight up when i got home that arvo. 7. Advertised for sale on breammaster that night. 8. Sold it to some sucker the next day. 9. Swore id never use another. Overrated and overpriced. Im way to spoilt using light, clean and crisp nitro vapors. Anything else i pick up feels inferior. |

Nah they are still good rods. Do agree they are a little overrated. If you think everything else you have picked up is inferior to your Nitros. You might want to go pick up a few more..... ![]()

Yeah Chief, i have picked up few different rods, but really feel comfortable with the nitro's. I just love em. The nitro are a true very fast taper, with a super quick recovery. And that suits me fine! |

I recon that the hype samurai rods use to have has diminished substantially. I use to tink they were amazing but got a steez instead I'm happy with that choice, also have a lox 1-3kg 7' and still use it they are an awsome alround rod.
Personally I dislike samaki's seem to have a cheap feel and have heard from some people a poor build quality. The daiwa bream specialists are a great rod and personally would rather one over a samurai even though they're cheaper. The samurai's are still an awsome rod very tough well built and good components. Hope that helps. Last edited by redfinfisho; 16-12-2012 at 07:12 AM. |

it comes down to personal prefence in your choice of rod, noodle? crisp? etc etc
I wouldnt mind a nitro vapor with a samurai reel seat/butt haha
