Gen Black vs Starlo Clasix

Hey guys, getting into light action estuary fishing and am looking to get a decent rod as mine is a much heavier action rod. I am deciding between a Daiwa Gen Black $129 or a Starlo Clasix which I can get deliered for $80, is it worth it to spend the extra $50? Im a bit of a cheap skate =)

Personally i don't like the gen blacks for numerous reasons (a lot will disagree) and for similar dollars there are a lot better rods out there atm.

I recently got my self a gen black and love it. I brought the drunk monkey and I reckon value for money wise it is right at the top of the tree. It casts light weight hards like a dream and is great with light plackies as well. It is matched up to a luvious da custom and as a combo it is so light in the hand and is a pleasure to use.
I run a couple of dsr glx, a specialist bream and a nitro and I find myself reaching for the gen black more and more.
If u go that way it will be 50 clams well spent. U won't regret it I promise.

Gen black for sure! Got 3 drunk monkeys and they rock. I run straight through floro on all three rods. If I was going for an all rounder I would go the itchy twitchy, chasenash I would like to know the rods that you speak of mate?

The Gen Black is one of the greatest off the shelf rods (all aspects including pricing) ever, tops off to daiwa! Even the alconites don't worry me! They're such a sweet rod.

I find the Starlo Classix to be a pretty good rod, very strong in the 2-5kg range, and great for use around structure when you need to pull those fish out and stop them from getting back into the snags. It casts all the light lures and plastics for me no dramas and well priced. Lure Project 2 from Shimano or these Austackle Light rods are something i'd be keen on getting in the future. Even check out the Berkley Slingshot and Silstar Arctic Rod with the Fuji guides has to be one of the best bang for your buck rods under $100 for either.......

Take your reel in and try out different rods with your reel on them, and see how it feels in hand. Its what is comfortable for you, and what suits your needs.

I got the wild weasel for a slighty heavier rod. It is very thin, sleak and lightweight - am very impressed with it.
Chalk and cheese compared to a starlo classic.

It is Chalk and Cheese, for an Extra $100 for the Daiwa you would hope so. Silstar Crystal Tip Blue with a 3 year warranty is a great budget rod.
