G.loomis Aussie GL2 opinions wanted

Hey guys, just want to know who's got 'em and what you think about them in general and specifics. I'm thinking about the 7'1" 2-10lb spin model.
Cheers
Chris

They have some good components like the fuji guides and reel seat but I reckon the blank is like a Shimano raider bit on the heavier side.
They are finished really nice though! Look quality.
But for under $200 bucks no complaints.
As a big loomis fan I was really keen when they were being released, was a bit dissapointing when I got to the shops to have a look.
Suppose I expected a really light rod like the imx at least.

I was the same. Pretty sure the guides are the ones below the alconites as well.

A GL2 dressed up and blinked up is still a GL2 at the end of the day. I've said this a number of times before, if you're considering a Loomis, forget about anything under IMX. If you're going to get anything under the IMX, you might as well get a Berkley Dropshot for less dollars.

I picked up one the other day and it felt like it had a pretty slow action. To each their own I guess but I like stiffer faster action rods.
You could probably do a lot better for an extra $50.
But for around a similar price the Diawa Generation Black rods are great rods for the money.

Spot on mate, for anything under a IMX u are paying just to have a Loomis label on ur rod.
For the price a gen black is a much better choice IMO

A lot, and I mean alot of guys up here rate the gl2 series. They are a deadset sell out. A couple guys I've spoken to who own and run a tackle store in the middle of Darwin can't speak highly enough of them.
It was on their word that I intend to buy a quiver of my own.
These tackle store fellas took the rods out to Melville island with the shimano boys and put them trough hell on every species you can think of and they came out with thumbs up
Dunno what more you could ask for, even if you do only fish for bream jokes

I thought that may have been the case, make a cheap rod that will sell like hot cakes to make $$$, that's why I checked first... you fellas have got me thinking about an IMX now even though I had a $250 limit haha. I'll check out the Daiwa though.
Thanks

Not sure what people expect they are going to get for $200.Everyone along the way has to make a buck after parts and materials. It costs me from $230 to $370 using stcroix blanks titanium guides and cork from portugal to build a rod with no labour. You get what you pay for.

cheers...Roy

Check the bindings on all the guides, every one I've picked up looked like at least one was a rush job. Nice little (light) rod though.
