Question UV Protective Headwear

Hi guys,
I'm planning on doing a fair bit of fishing over the summer holidays and don't want to get burnt. I'm not a fan of sunscreen and I'm trying to find the elastic, UV Protective thingies that I see the pro's wear on hot days. The closes I have come to them is these Buff Headwear ones http://www.buffwear.com/buff-headwear/angler-buff. Is this them? If so are they good? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers,
Anders

Which Buff to you recommend then? Can you get anyone you want and wear it the way you want?

some block UV, others don't. i don't think the headsox i have blocks UV but it's better than being completely exposed under the sun.
just find one you like the look of - you can wear em any way you want.

Mate make sure you cover other parts as well. Im an old ranga and have had sooooo many burnt of hands, chest and back of the neck etc. I've even had a melanoma taken out of my foot.

Cover up whilst you are young you will be glad u did when you get older.

Laying there wide awake whilst a surgeon cuts a chunk out of you lip aint fun. Cover up

The buff's are a slightly different material to the head sox version. I find the head sox more comfortable and a bigger fit than the buff. I believe that both are UV resistant, a quick google search wil find the answer for you!

I've never been sunburnt wearing my headsox but that doesnt mean it completely removes UV DohDohDohDoh.

I love mine, great in summer for keeping the sun off your face and neck. I wet mine down and wrap it around my neck to help with cooling. It's also great in winter, stops those cold southerlies hitting your face and keeps you warm as your driving around.

Long sleeve shirt (Columbia), light fabric pants (Columbia), Broad brimmed hat (Columbia), Go-So gloves, Buff for your neck.

And yes, some sunscreen for your face. You'll thank me later.

Exactly why I want this! I do not want to have melanoma cut out of me when I'm older. These things are really good, you can have them sitting just around your neck or you can have your neck and face covered.

My Dad has a Columbia Fishing Shirt and loves it! How much are these Columbia pants? Because I'm only 15 and I might grow out of them (I sound like my mum) and I think my local tackle shop supplies those gloves so I'll get some of them

Nothing worse than a cold wind in your face while you drive the boat in winter

Buff's are killer, I have the Original and the High UV buff's. The Original is a microfibre material and the High UV is a "coolmax" material, not sure what it is but it looks like cotton? The High UV suits very sunny and hot conditions and offers 95% ultraviolet protection, when you breathe through it, it doesn't keep the moisture around your face or in the material, it goes right through it. It keeps the pesty flies off your face too!

the headsox has a better fit for my big head so i prefer that

Get used to smelling your own breath and glasses fogging up occasionally lol
