In my experience yellows go harder, like Alex said yellows run like the clappers.

The few yellows that I have caught were like wet socks.... They werent 40cm but a similar size blackie would go dirty for every snag he could.

Its also depends on structure. Give them the offer of smoking you in tight cover and your toast. But if its got clear water they yes they will sometimes just shake thier head and come up- generally the real big ones too.

For me.. it depends on what system they come out of and what time of the year.

2 months ago, I was getting 37-38cm fork yellas in to the boat in 10-15 seconds, whilst the blackies were a lot more stubborn.

In a few weeks time when the water really warms up, the yellas will go like the clappers.

Systems with current and snags...the blacks will brick you in a seconds if you're not on your game

If u hook a good blackie at the docks here in melbourne, they can eaily break you off on 4LB.

It also has to be said that (for me anyway) the tackle you see used varies. Over here most of the systems you wouldnt fish under 6lb braid and 6lb leader as you just cant muscle fish out. But lots of people over east seem to be using 2lb and 3lb flouro through. That wont cut the mustard in snags whether your flicking plastics or cranking in structure. On the flats its fine. Blackies on the flats are definitely not the same as in structure, nor would yellows be. I still remember a 35cm to the tip fish in the 2006 ballina final prefish. I let him go right up into the mangroves up the creek and he didnt even think about wrapping me up. Do that here and its all over in seconds.
