I've never fished with one but I've felt a few and they are easily the best reel I have ever seen

they are ace reels, have used mine from snapper to bass to bream to perch. It hasn't missed a beat.

That said, fishing in 40m of water already takes out a fair chunk of your line capacity, and if you reckon you may be encountering bigger fish, a bigger spool may be the go. If snapper are really the biggest you will come across then you should be sweet

They're a sweet reel that's for sure. Probably the best reel you could buy for what you want.

you could probably pick one up second hand for 400-600 depending on the condition. There are some great buys out there, I got mine second hand but brand new for a stupidly cheap price, so always look around as best as you can

As G said if your gonna encounter other fish like Kings then a 3000FE spool will drop on and shouldnt have many dramas. Have owned plenty of high end reels and my 2500FE stella has been amazing, it just keeps getting smoother and quieter.
I went with the non ADM version which has a lower ratio at 5.2 (little bit more suited to breamming) and an extra bearing. They are very easy to maintain with a flat screwdriver and some inox. They have an awesome bail arm.
