Smile Would This Reel Be Suitable For 2lb Straight Thru Fishing

Hi all, Ive just recently joined this wonderful site, and its amazing and encouraging to see such knowledgeable and helpful people on this forum. To say im impressed would be an understatement ! Ive recently moved from forster to brisbane (work related) and am enjoying discovering new places to fish, thanks to that wonderful thing called google earth. I have been a lure fisho for some years now and have always loved my bream fishing. A question id like to ask my fellow fisherman is that i have never tried bream fishing with 2lb dtraight through flurocarbon. I have recently purchased a emeraldas 2004 infeet reel and was wondering if anyone has owned or played with these reels so i could possibly get some feedback as to whether the drag on this particular reel is soft enough to fish my 2lb sunline sniper flurocarbon line? I know this may seem a particularly silly question to most of you, but i thought who better to ask than guys/girls who have dabbled in this light line class for quite sometime. I hope to talk to you all individually in the near future and perhaps wet a line with some as well. Thanks for your time guys, and i am stoked to have joined such a great forum. Cheers darren

I can't see a problem other than bugger all line capacity, how much are you going to fit on there and what are you targeting with it? The 2004 spools have a finnesse drag so I dare say it will be fine.

Smile

thanks for the tip mick. It holds around 140meters of 2lb sunline sniper flurocarbon. I was just going to use it strictly for flats fishing with hardbodys for bream? I thought about using it for whiting on poppers too, but know that flurocarbon sinks so probably wont fit the bil for that style of fishing. Cheers once again

Hey Sunline, welcome to the site
The emeraldas 2004 would be perfect for 2lb straight through. 140m is heaps of line, any fish that can take that much line will probably bust the 2lb anyway.
I havent tried 2lb but I fish 3lb all the time. Come to think of it I can put quite a bit of hurt on a fish with 3lb so I might give 2lb a go in the near future.

Hey redrocket, Thank you very much for the info. Im thinking maybe i should have gone 3lb instead of 2lb, as i havent fished straight fluro of this strength before. But i guess after getting sick of losing lures and fish i will have it sussed out pretty quick hey Cheers darren
