Shimano BC question

Hi guys

Have thought about getting a baitcaster. Have had my eye on the curados as im a shimano fan and also the chronarch. The chonarch seems to look a little better.

as i only have spinners and understand the shimano sizes my question is whats the go for instance the chronarchs - 200E5 200E7, 201E5 or E7 50E5 or E7, 51e5 etc?

if someone can explain what this means it will prolly help work out what i might be looking at to get.

Cheers
ryan

The 50's are substantially smaller then the 200's. The number after the E is the gear ratio and a 51 and 201 are left hand winds.. I've had a curado 50 and it was a great little reel. My brother has a 50 and 200 size and there both still as good as the day he brought them. That was the last series though. I'm yet to use one of the new ones but if there anywhere near as good as the last series they'll be a great reel. A curado will last you for years if you look after it properly

Chronarch E is basically the old Curado E. They're a solid piece of gear.
Curado G is a dumbed down version of the Curado E

5,6,7 :- is the approximate ratio 5.5:1,6.5:1 & 7:1

200 v 201 :- "1" = left hand

50 v 200 : 50 is a smaller unit than the 200.

I use the Curado E and on occasion the G as well. I can't tell the difference between the two in practice (other than the colour difference). The only downside to the Chronarchs is if you want the 5:5:1 in left hand you need to order them from the US.

Thanks for the replies guys!

thats explained a lot and makes sense - with the 50 and 200 sizes would they be similar to say a 2500 and 4000 shimano repectively?

i realise that casting will be different to spinners in terms of weights (ie spinners can cast lighter lures better - from what i have read)
