Question Certate Hi Gear

G'day fellas, i was going to get the new Luvias for Christmas but since it's not being released until December mum started panicking that it won't be here in time. So I went and spoke to dad and he said today he got offered a certate hi gear extremely cheap. I mean REALLY cheap.... So I was wondering if the high gears are as good as the normal certates for what I do (Pulling good sized trout out of timber and weed beds and trolling for trout). I am going to pair it on a Gen Black drunknmonky

Anyone got good news for me haha?

they are great super smooth felt one a few weeks back in a shop as good as my 2004 certate, but with the extra retrieve speed which i believe is better for trout as they dont mind a fast moving lure and if ya fishing in rivers you dont need to wind as fast to get the lure moving with a currnt i recon they'd smash a luvias the shop i felt it at had em for $500

to my taste it would be a bit heavy for a drunkmonkey.
I was going to put my 2004 certete on mine but it felt to heavy so I put my 2000 luvious DA custom on it and it suits it perfectly.
The drunk monkey is a very light rod(1-2kg) and wouldn't be my first choice for pulling fish out of timber but it is great for throwing small hards and ultra light plackies.

I was looking at the Itchy Twitchy or Drunken Monkey for my 2004 certate.
Would love to hear what you think if you get it.

The 2004 matches well to my HEAVY pinster. But the high gears will be slightly stiffer to wind. And just buy your luvias for jap. Even cheaper. Also make sure it's not the old model certate either.

I thought this too but could barely tell the difference between the hi gear and the normal 2004

The high gear is actually a 1003 body with a 2004 spool on it and higher gearing ratios eg 5.6:1 rather than 4.8:1 on the standard certate, due to the fact they use a smaller body ie 1003 this then saves a further 20g over the standard model, I use mine for trout streaming and hard body lures as i find it gives a better feel, has been good so far

Hey mate
I've had my certate hi gear custom 2004 for over a year and it is still as smooth and solid as the day i bought it. I think they are a great little reel and suit any style of light fishing. They only weigh 200g which is pretty good considering how strong they feel. I use mine for light plastics as the hi gear allows me to quickly retrieve excess line after a cast. Not sure if it makes a huge difference though!
You won't be disappointed if you get one.

Justin

Just talked to the shop keeper and he told me these things:

1003 body, 2004 spool
Stronger gear case (dunno what that means haha?)
SPARE 2000 SPOOL BOIIZ!!!
He has one on a drunkenmonkey and it's his Favourite spin combo (over his
new AND old steez combos)
And that he thinks you couldn't get a better reel for what I do

Looks like I'm getting one haha
