New rod needed - Price no object ;)

Alrighty, So I have one hole left in my arsenal that needs filling.

My light to medium spin is well and truly sorted and I have heavier and jigging gear sussed so it leaves me with only this.

I need a ballsy rod similar to the Nitro Viper (ie: 6-8kg) but with better components like k guides a nicer reel seat. Also looking for a rod which is lighter in the hand.

I want it to piff slugs at tuna and stuff but also to spin for larger species on hardbodies.

I will also need to get it in 2 piece which spanners the works a fair bit but makes traveling that much easier.

Not too fussed about dollars as I just want the right rod. So if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. If you have a link to the rod spec that would be great too.

Got some fantastic suggestions last time I posted a similar thread so appreciate the input.

I bought a BSR852GLX for the uses you described. Havn't used it much at all. Would definitely prefer K Guides on it atleast for the stripper and second guide.

Thought about a Custom job?

Ripplefisher Flows 810.

8ft 10" rated to p.e 1.2 which may be a bit heavier. Light in hand full k-guides and I'm pretty sure you can get it in a two piece model.

Have had a think about custom and while it is tempting, I know my track record of flip flopping on gear. The chances are that in a year's time I will want another rod to do the same thing and from an ease of resale perspective an off the shelf rod (even if that shelf is overseas) is always going to return better on initial investment.

I would say the opposite. If you take care of a custom rod and its made for a common purpose you can get back a fair bit of your initial investment. I have seen plenty of millers for 450-500 when they cost 600 brand new

If you want to sell fast it's may be a different story

I was pretty much in the same situation & ended up getting a 502 samurai reaction with certate hyper 4000pe. Comes with Ti fuji K guides & is nice & light but with plenty of backbone.

I've got a Megabass Phase 3 F3-610XS as my 16lb rod which could comfortably handle the fish you're talking about... light as a feather, plenty strong enough, casts a 118mm Sebile Koolie a mile...

Only drama is it's 6'10" one piece, if that's a show stopper?

I know, it is winning at the moment. What are your thoughts (if any) on the 8'3'' model? same weight same spec and same price.... Would just be a little easier to transport.
