It means that the clip you will have at the end will be more data rich. You will be able to film a HD (720p)clip at .25 speed (fitting in 4 times the frames per second or 4 times the data) at 30 frames per second which means it would look as good as if it was filmed real time.
4k at 15fps is also pretty cool, normally to get a camera with that sort of resolution albeit at 30/25 fps you need to shell out some serious moooooooolala. I have not read all the info as yet but my only hope is that at these higher frame rates i will be able to get the angle of the image in less of a fish eye. Currently (HD hero2) if you want to shoot faster than 30fps you need to go wide angle which can look super shyte if trying to stitch it together with non wide angle footage from another camera like a DSLR. Looking forward to seeing some reviews on these before I start selling kidneys. Never my own of course.

High frame rates are generally used for slow motion.
So if you shoot at 120fps in 720 mode then transcode that footage to 30fps (24 is even better) you will have a clip that runs at %25 the speed of the original, making for super smooth slow motion, and a much longer clip. The same can be done with the 60p mode which is 60 frames per second. This is shot (on the Hero3) at full Hd 1920x1080 (not 1280x720 as the above) and when transcoded to 30fps, you will have a clip that runs at %50 speed. It also means that the most mundane things, look SICK! Phil

yo BWJ,
If you want to match your footage with DSLR clips, try downloading the protune update. This will give you a much flatter picture that will need some colour correction, but it will help with matching the two cameras. Yew! Phil
