Best Water Temp for Bream?

Hi guys,
I'm just wondering what is the best water temperature is for Bream? I went out today and it was roughly 18 degrees and the fish didn't want to play. I throw everything at them but all I managed in the end was some good hits and a just legal Bream. I don't know if I was doing something wrong because I could see them swimming around as I spooked them. It was beautiful day with water crystal clear. Any help would be greatly appreciate

Cheers,
Anders

For blacks down south, who knows mate. Seriously we smack them here in winter when the water is like 6 to 7 degrees!

Theres your problem right there, Forster can be frustrating when the water is clear as gin and the sun is bright. Fish lighter, 2 or 3lb fluro and some luck.

I find 120-130 degrees C is good, any cooler and it won't cook all the way through

190 degrees, cooks quickly and ultra crispy batter. For best results, place ice in the batter and use icey cold beer or soda if alcohol isnt your thang..

Mate I think temperature of the water can b a factor. My thoughts are bream are where u find them. If you over think it it will do your head in. Keep a diary and keep your eyes open.

Depending on where you are located, bream, like all species have variable temperatures in which you'll find them being active, inactive and best spawning temperatures.

In Qld, cooler water temperatures produce the best fishing times as this is their spawning run from roughly May through to September. The big bream come through and from the surf gutters, rock walls, through into the rivers, they'll find their area of spawning, and mostly back to their location of "birth".

During the warmer months, it is more the resident bream that will hit anything that moves around them.

Topwater action occurs at any time, even in the cooler months depending on the run of the jelly prawns, etc.

Some of the biggest bream on topwater and deeper, have all come during the winter months here in Qld.
