Lure Action

As a person who is often far to caught up with the appearance of lures, I was wondering if those of you out there with far greater knowledge then I could elaborate on lure action.

Obviously shape has everything to do with action. Do yellowfin prefer a particular action to blacks? Do longer profile minnows or jerkbaits produce a tighter wobble as opposed to crankbaits wide wobble? Or is there a combination of both?

Is it a simple case of having a variety of each, and finding out what works on the day. Lately, it seems the chubby crankbaits are getting way more runs on the board. Hurricane, Jackall, Dizzy, Atomics etc.
