Megabass hatchet

Hey guys

Anyone used a megabass hatchet? I have my eye on one for a light mangrove jack rod which I can also use as a tight structure rod and for bass in the snags from a kayak.

If you have used one, how does it feel?

Or can you suggest another 6-12lb spin rod under 6"8?

cheers

Justin

I just got a F3 5'11'' RC Hatchet. Awesome little rod. Has plenty of grunt in it and can still cast a MX48! Does have a fairly long butt though, not ideal for the Yak IMO.

Which model do you have in mind?

I have been looking at the 'non'- racing condition model with cork grips. Seems to be same specs but a little cheaper to buy from shimreels on ebay.

Thanks for the feedback. It seems that the handle on the rc model might be a little longer?

My second choice is a new harrier 6'10, even though a little long it fits the bill in every other aspect.

cheers

I think I know the rod you are looking at. I almost bought it to. I think the RC models have better blanks and they come with K guides. But for the price that looks like a pretty good rod. Shim reels service is ver good. My rod came in 4 days!

The RC butt is longer I think, looks at least 1-2inches longer.

The MB you're looking at won't be nearly as crisp as the RC. They're a different, slightly lower modulus graphite, and the RC will be heaps lighter.

I thought they'd be way more than that.

Yeah i saw that too chief. Another store north of the border has them for 350. I heard rumors of them retailing for much more than that, so not really sure what a good price is! Hahahaha!

I want one..... Add $20-40 postage and it's still cheap! Might have to make room for one.

They look great! But they're not expensive enough lol I was expecting a $700-900 rod. They need to jack up the price I think lol.

Haha! One of them is what I'm looking for actually. 6'4'' 4-10lb 1 piece and has Daiwa written on it....

They do seem quite similar to the black label technicals though... with the addition of titanium and some fancy carbon on the but.

The Daiwa Tournament Specialist Bream rods are the same price as the Harrier. On the same site at $330!
