Shimano Reel Warranty
I am looking to get a Shimano Senora 2500 from the US for about $70 posted to here. It comes with a 1 year warranty. Now does anyone believe that is a international warranty, or a Shimano US Warranty only ? Will Shimano Aus warranty it for 1 year instead of the 12 years ?
Thanks. |

Yeah i think its actually around $65 posted after exchange etc. Seems like a great Reel. Rayeannes have it for $110 posted with the Aussie 10 year warranty, so just not sure.

Maybe you could try contacting them to see. Or just buy it in Aus?

No international warranty
If you buy over seas it will be a overseas warranty. If you buy in oz it is a au warranty 99% shimano will not touch it |

I just saw someone ask this on the Shimano Aus FB page, they won't touch it. If I were you I'd just buy it locally. Get the warranty and support an Aussie business.

Thanks Guys. This sites amazing, how quick you can get responses. Now i will buy local, so its either the Shimano Senora 2500 for around $110 posted or the Abu Garcia Orra S in 20 or 30 for $89 delivered ,size to go with my Starlo 2-5kg Rod. The Abu Garcia only has 1 year warranty but comes with the Spare Graphite Spool. Used mainly for breamin landbased. I know there are the higher end better reels, just hard convincing the mortgage and the family at this stage hehe. I sold some stuff on Ebay, and now i have $100 or so to spend.

For $110 posted, you could walk into a tackleworld or your local, and pick up a better shimano. Sedona, symmetre and nexave are all around that price...

Are the Sedona or Symmetre a better reel than the Sonora, or are they tried and tested ?

Ive just recently bought a symetre 1000 series and cant fault it.
As for the sedona i have never used one but im sure it would be a quality reel. Have a look at the shimano website and do a comparison. Cheers Adam |

Mate, I'm honestly not sure if they are actually better (I should have worded my last post better) but alot of people will vouch for the symmetre being a great reel.
Symmetre shares the same number of bearings with the Sonora.(I think) Nexave has 1 less bearings, but comes with a spare spool. Sedona, is really just a cheaper alternative to these reels. I own a nexave 2500fc and I love it, I recently bought a stradic fj, and I can't really tell the difference between them. I think you are right tho, the symmetre is tried and tested. Hope this sorta helps...

You can also pick up the Saros F on run out for $120 and you get a spare aluminum spool. Great reel for that amount of $$
