Braid Life?
Hi all,
Kleen my gear regularly after every trip and was having a conversation with me fishing mate about the upkeep of braid. I tend to take the spool off and rinse in lukewarm soapy water then rinse in clean water, dry in my workshop then refit it to the reel. I,m trying to work out the life of the braid and the best way to keep it pristine. Eg. How many seasons will I get from it? Any thoughts? looking forward to some positive comment?! |

It really depends on how much it is being used, on some of my heavily used outfits I reverse the line every 12 month's, so I get 2 years use before I replace.
This still all depends on abrasion and how much line may already be lost. |

Change mine every 6 months regardless .

If I fish flat out maybe 8-10 months max but I tie a new leader every trip, so minus 6" of line by 60 give or take and a few for lost lures and leaders = 360" of line 9.2m plus the wear it gets and revresing it. It all adds up

I usually re-spool well before the line is un-usable for the same reasons mentioned ^
