Need some help with line please!

Hi guys,
I am a novice bream lure fisherman, just got into it and it's so much fun! I recently got a shimano biomaster 1000fb, it has two spools, one which I've loaded with 3.3 fireline exceed and 4lb sunline FC rock leader.

I'm having trouble deciding what to put in the spare spool, I am leaning towards fluorocarbon straight through with 3lb sniper.

I'm just wandering though, would the 3lb sniper be too close to what I'm already using?

Should I maybe up my braid+leader combo to 5lb + 6lb respectively? My concern is that the 3lb sniper is too close to the 4lb leader to make any difference, and I would be wasting the extra spool?

Any tips guys?

Thanks!

If nothin itll test your patients an knot tying skillz.
I suggest the doubled braid albright.

Really depends on what you intend to do with the straight thrugh fluro as it serves a purpose, that being for a shut down bight or if your into using Stick Minnows it can be very handy, an extra long leader will serve a similar purpose though.

Just think about what you intend to use it for, if it is not serving any practical purpose i'd just stick with braid and lengthen your leader as required. Many good braids out there, nothing wrong with what your using, i spool up with Super Sunline PE 8lb and Exceed.

If you are having trouble deciding what line to put on your spare spool why not leave it empty for a while?
Maybe after a few more trips you will realise what other line you really could do with.
What you have with the fireline is a pretty universal setup and will see you through most fishing situations.

Thank you all for your great help guys, i really appreciate it guys! Hmm okay, so I'm guessing there won't be much difference in getting a 3lb straight through fluoro compared to what I already have?
Is there a specific reason as to why the pros use straight through when they have a similar set up?
I was thinking of using HB with the 3lb straight through and SP/vibes with the braid, but not sure how strong 3lb is for flicking HBs.

Yeah they usually use it cause it does not spook any fish like braid can, if the conditions are really clear then straight through fluro can make a big difference in some locations, great for hardbodies mate, if you chose to spool up with it you won't have any issues using it for HB's, its strong enough just don't go flicking it into stupid country, best on flats ect..

I use 3lb straight through when fishing hb's on the flats, especially if its bright and clear I certainly think it makes a difference. As BO said in most other situations a longer leader will do the trick on shy fish.
I have also used it on vibes with good results to, maybe it's more of a confidence thing to.

Interesting.
I've never thought of using blades with FC before, I thought you would lose that sensitivity. Might give it a try next time I'm out.

i fish vx35s mainly mate on cockle beds in the lake here, not much current movement or anything and can easily feel them vibe up off the bottom and still feel the bites very easily. my catch rate has sky rocketed since i made the switch. i tried it a bit with cranka vibes and it is very hard to pick up the more subtle vibe with that so prob best with braid. but for the blades fluoro is sick!!! until mr flathead comes along

I see! Would it be right to say its better to use braid for SP to help detect those subtle hits? And better to use FC for HB and vibes?

Mate I'd stick with the exceed for sure. The 3.3lb exceed would have a true breaking strain of about 5-6lb, and will easily accommodate leaders up to 10lb, making it very versatile. I'd put 3lb fluro on your spare spool and use it for hards, and when the fish are shy. I like using sunline shooter invisible and yamatoyo famell spinning fluro. Despite the fact that it is a little stiff, the sunline shooter invisible is my personal favourite as it is extremely sensitive for a fluro.

+1 for using fluro on the blades! You hook up a lot more.

I don't use fluoro straight through for Blades but i always use a super long leader 2-3m at least.

I fish St Georges Basin. Pretty similar to your turf structure wise, mainly cockle and ribbon weed beds and no current or tide.
Definitely give it a go next trip.
Thanks for your advice.
