Nikon j1 twin lense kit

Thinking of upgrading my camera and with the technology out there it's very hard to choose a decent camera. Any1 own 1 of these or know much about them? If so what r ur recommendations?

There are a wide range of options with any camera brand. I have Nikon gear and its never let me down. Its a bit like fishing gear, generally u get what you pay for. Is a personal preference some people go for the white side (Canon).

Hope this helps

I've read mixed reviews on J1.

Some people argue that V1 is much better camera (OVF, better IQ, etc.) and it's built better.

Obviously it's more expensive as well. There are similar type cameras on the market these days you may want to look closely, like Sony NEX 5n or the brand new Sony RX100 than many consider "the best pocketable camera ever"!

Do some reads and see what other people think. You need an advice from the guys who's using the gear unlike me who's only dreaming about the new gear

I was given a J1 a few months back at a Nikon dealer thingy. Great pix out of it. The sensor in it is amazing and the features are very good. It's a little to big for me when fishing the banks as I like my camera in my pocket. When in my back pack it's just to much hassle. In my pocket it gets pulled out for everything.
It's a camera I would recommend to people that want a quality pic without the need to learn how to shoot with a DSLR.

Thanks guys..I guess the best option would be to play around with a few cameras..I've seen the Sony nex5 that seems like a decent camera and also the v1.. I have a budget around $800..want something with quality and yet last a long time

For that price you could go for a Nikon D5100.

The J1 pretty much shoots beter FPS and is lighter and smaller. every other aspect of the camera isn't up to quality with a D5100.
