I would imagine servicing would likely not be a problem until parts are necessary. These can probably be sourced, however if it is an offshore model, you likely won't be covered by warranties.

Give Shimano a call at Taren Point and ask the boys at service directly.

Always a gamble going overseas, but if the price fits....

Maybe/ maybe not I remember MEH wanted Shimano to service his
2000 Stella fe and they wouldn't touch it.
I'd say any jdm reel imported to Shimano they would service.
( ie soare )

I reckon they can. At the end of the day, cleaning/greasing/oiling shouldn't be much different to any other reel. However if your needing parts replaced then that might be a different story.

I cant wait to get a JDM stella 2000S

Most parts with Shimano and Daiwa can be crossed matched with similar reels. It not a hard task to do and all you got to realise is that Shimano or Daiwa dont make reels that only take specific parts to one reel - its just too costly to do!

Anyhow, if its a 2000 size - get the explodes and get the part number and find another reel of the same size and cross match the part number.

Keep in mind the reels gear ratio for those parts in winding and oscillation, mind you the other parts are mostly interchangeable - bar colours or shapes to some degree.

If you need to speak to someone about Shimano or its parts - call this guy. Has more than 15 years experience of Shimano authorised service.

can anyone tell me if there is a size difference between a 2000 FD stella and 2500 FD or is it just a bigger spool?

I thought 2500 and 3000 were the same body but with different spool size.
I dont think the 2000 and 2500 share the same body. Don't quote me on this tho

I will agree with you yellaterra! JDM reels are something else compared to our very ordinary main stream imports...

Have herd how Shimano do the whole selection process for Australia and it sucks as we get the leftovers or 'simpleton' selection!

How are the policies with Daiwa on servicing imported reels? For example if I were to purchase a Daiwa Fuego online?

DIY mate.easy as once you have the hang of it.all daiwa reels have similar internal setup.theres no much difference in the way the internal looks in terms of like exist and Tierra.the difference between em is the material used.crack one up and as long as the schematic are there, you're good as gold.worst outcome would be start looking for people to fix it up for ya!!!.people at daiwa don't mind cos they will charge you.
