The Aussie Loomis GL2's are around the $200 mark. They have two different 2-5kg models which might be suitable.
Lox Yoshi in the 2-5 kg might be worth looking at also. Big fan of the Lox rods myself.

The Camo-Stik Dominator 4-8kg was specifically built for Flathead (jigging and trolling) and also for Rack fishing for Bream in places like Forster. Retails for around $150. I do not think their is a better value rod like this on the market. Have a look on our website. www.austackle.com.au

5 retailers around Hervey Bay / Maryborough stock them and you can also get them from the online retailers who sponsor Bream Master eg Phat Fish and fishin.com.au

look into the shimano jewels and shimano t-curve revolutions...
if you dont like to bother washing down your rod after every outing then you cant beat the pflueger trion's.

i personally think theres no difference in a $99 rod or a $200 rod, noticeable differences for me start up in the $300 + bracket.
