daiwa rod question

Just wondering what the difference between the IM6 and IM7 blanks are and also between the Heartland and Procaster series rods are.

Thanks

Thanks for your help. I already have a 6'6"Procaster X, but am looking for a second rod. Also what's the difference between X's and V's?

You mention the Procasters are no good for structural work. What are my other options?

Thanks again

Scorchy

I have a PR-X662LFS but have yet to use it on bream. Initially I brought it as a bass SP rod. So far have only caught flatthead and bass using SP and hardbodies. I only really thought about bream after stummbling onto this site.

I was just intending to get a second light spinning outfit similar to what I have now (for when the other half comes fishing). But since you mentioned that I would be underpowered when fishing structure, I might have to look at 2 new rods.

I guess I want to give breaming a go have a rod for structural work. I'm not just interested in Daiwa, but they seemed a reasonable price for a starting rod.

Thanks again

Yeah, I have a Heartland z IM6. 6" one piece.

Great rod, but it struggles with SP's lightweight on casting.

I am going to actually buy a specific SP rod and had looked at the procaster. Not too expensive and I trust the Daiwa product. I also have a Heartland IM6 "coursing rod" that has caught about 1000 trout and is just gorgeous. 9" and I have used it with SP's before! Casts like a machine. Just sooo flicky, but it is not what it is designed for.

My 6"er does hard bodies really well though and I have found it strong enough. Three weeks ago, I landed a silver trevally in Westernport bay on bait. 55cms to the fork and well over two kilos. Six pound fireline with a 10kg leader. the rod was what saved me.

I dont mind the Daiwa gear.

It does OK with SP's on light jig heads. But not brilliant.

sometimes just struggles for range, especially if there is any wind.

The more I think about it though, it really isnt that bad..

Just me attempting to talk myself into another rod
