A few questions:
- I just bought a steez 2500 should it be as smooth or smoother than a 2010 daiwa 2004 certate??? - how much does a service from daiwa cost and would a service and only a service fix my problem of slight grinding of the reel??? Mitch

These things happen, my Branny 3000 had a dodgy bearing when I bought it. If you bought it new send it in with your proof of purchase and Daiwa should fix the problem at no charge, if its second hand then its probably had a tough life and well, not much you can do as the seller probably didn't describe it very well to you. All my steez's spin pretty much the same since the day I bought them over a year ago and they haven't been serviced yet. Compared to my certate, my Steez feels smoother to me. To me the Steez is possibly the greatest value for money reel on the market, I wouldn't expect anything less then a silky, soft smooth spin. If even one of the teeth on the oscillating gear is out by 1/100000th of a millimeter it will make the reel feel like crap!

So it's probably worth taking it back and getting another certate??? Or would the service fix it, it's a beautiful reel but, I hate the grinding roughness it has.

No take it back and get another Steez. It's brand new, it should not grind at all. They are silky smooth, mine are after a year or so. Even ones I got second hand are silky smooth and I'm fussy with reels.

I got it second hand but he gave me the option to swap it back. Does anyone know if I did get it serviced would that help or would they need to put a new drive gear in????

Man it shouldn't happen unless there's something wrong. Steez's are smooth as butter. Get it serviced, and make sure that they find the source of the problem.

Do you have any idea how much it would cost to get serviced

No more than 90$ to get a reel in schmich order from past experience its worth it ... Steez are one of the best take advantage and spend a couple of bucks.....

I have a 2508 and I would be happy to get more and hopefully a 2004 also before the ugly new Steez is launched.
I would try fixing it first instead of swapping it for a certate. |
