Question Prawn Stars

Was wondering if anyones had any success using Prawn Stars, and what retrieval methods you used.

Hi Retro,

The PrawnStar is certainly one of the most successful lures that I have ever used. They are generally a little bit harder to fish than most other soft plastics but once you get the method down pack they can work wonders. Basically the retrieve involves a couple of short sharp jigs that make the Prawnstar flick and leapt off the bottom. But it is when the lure drifts back down that most fish strike.

The Prawnstar has two planning strake type wings on the head which enable the lure swim back to the bottom in curves and arcs which seem to make all the difference. They don't just crash back into the sand with very little action like some of the other prawn lures on the market. I suggest you take a look at the Prawnstar website www.primalfishing.com for a more detailed fishing method.

It has been our most successful mangrove jack lure for years and also has the ability to catch many other species...like these two 8 kilo fingermark off the Lucinda sugar loading jetty (Hinchinbrook) which Booth and I caught the day before Xmas on the PrawnStar originals.

Best of luck

Trent

The new smaller version of the prawnstar is a pretty good little bream lure, as trent said they should be fished with short sharp twitches. I use spike-it dyes just to highlight the tail fan and found that it has greatly increased stike rates of the lure. HTH

Great minds think alike
I did the same thing with mine after getting home from my first fishing session with them and found that the coloured tail fan made a difference for me too
