2004 certate problem?
I have a 2004 certate spooked with 6lb sunline p.e! I'd never had a problem with it until I took it out a few days ago to have a go at a few trout. Put of
About 10 casts I had massive wind knots in about 6 of them! I ended up cracking the DohDohDohDohs and not fishing. I noticed the line on the spool was bunching up on the lip of the spool ( the spool is not overfilled by any means). I made sure I put the line on tight but it happened yet again. On closer inspection it looks as though the air rotor has a slight angular wobble which results in more line being layed at the top of the spool. I have two other certates that I've never had a problem with! Anyone had this problem before? |

Hatch,
Is it the new model Certate? I've never had this problem with any of my Daiwa's and I have owned heaps over the years, and still do. Every now and again I get a wind knot but it's only when I'm side casting ultra light PE over and over against the wind. Best thing to do is send it back to Daiwa with a good explanation of what is happening and what you think is causing it, I'm sure they'll sort it out. Shane |

sounds like a spacer problem, but its strange that its only happening now?
Do you know if the line was always bunching up, or is it something recent? Check to see if you need to put another spacer under the spool. Note:i forgot what the word im thinking of is so I just said spacer, its like a washer, daiwa usually give them in the boxes they come with, just plastic ones. |

I agree with what G said. Probly has to much of V shape in the line lay if you know what I mean. Add a washer and it should even out the line lay.

It is the new model! Had a really good look at tonight and compared it too my other two certates! THe air rotor is not sitting in the right place. There is about 2-3mm of play in the section of the reel. Off she goes to daiwa! Probably in need of a service anyway!!
Jimmy! I have a couple of 1000 twinpowers and a 1000 Ci14 Stradic. Tbh honestly I have a lot more faith in my shimanos than my three certates. I've never had to service my twinpowers but I've had to send the daiwa back after 12months! The longevity of the shimanos is unrivalled. My next investment will be a 2500 Stella I reckon! |

do have the same problems the same as yours.new reel with new line and somehow keep on getting wind knots, busted line cast after cast......most of the time till I'm sick of losing lures and eventually get rid of it.
over the time i own the reel,i checked everything possible that i can think of even keep on changing lines but the results is the same.my spool line regardsless of how much or less washers i put on makes no difference.just one of those unexplainable cause. not only that,i even bought a few rods of those k series guides with no sucess.the reel in question is the certate 2000. i think you're still in your early stages of ownership of your reel.save the hassele and financial burden and get rid of it. |

Its definately not the spacer. The air rotor is on an angel and has about 2-3mm of play. I'll take a photo of it tonight
