Do you store it with the drag well backed off? Drag probably just needs a good service, pretty basic thing you can do yourself. First thing I learnt to do real maintainance wise.

Fish like that are always gonna give a 2500 sized reel a flogging.
I would upgrade to carbontex and apply cals grease. Thatll smooth it right out. Alternatively get a bigger reel

Locally you can get the carbontex washers and cals grease from Jack Erskine, or try Smooth Drag in the US. One of the best upgrades you can do to your reel and doesn't cost allot to do it.

I'll agree with nagz here, if your going to be throwing that size reel around for milkies then upgrade the drag for sure. That should eliminate the problem with your drag currently and give you much better performance and piece of mind.

Starting inertia and milkies are bound to end in heartbreak without a decent drag.

http://www.smoothdrag.com/

just email them and ask them to send you a payment request through paypal for the washes for your model reel, they will also recomend you get drag grease, you should get that too, you dont need to use much on the washes
