Araldite instead of epoxy for threads ?

Hi,

I just want to put on 1 stainless steel hook holder on a rod and don't really want to buy rod epoxy just for this small job......would araldite be OK for this or is this a totally stupid idea?

araldite is only a brand name . its still a 2 part epoxy resin . the trick with araldite is to make sure u varnish over it with a couple of coats of good varnish because as far as i know araldite is not uv stabilised.

I think you would be better to use just the varnish! Araldite can go yellow with time. Use lots of coats of filler then a couple of varnish, you will get a similar finish!
