diy wind ons

hi guys,
thought i would knock up a little how to guide to making up wind onleaders for non-bluewater game species such as barra, jacks, queenies, etc.
not sure how many people will find this useful, but i have learnt alot from this forum, so i figured its time to give something back
i have been scouring the net for the downlow, but haven't found exactly what im looking for. so here it is, for those seeking the same intel

step 1:- assemble all the gear
- wind on jig (another home made job)
- scissors
- highlighter/marker pen
- wind on needles
- top shot dac tac
- top shot needle lube (for tight fitting mono and needles)
- top shot dac wax (apply upon completion to splice)
- loop of braid
- bobbin holder with thread (for finishing)
- pen (or similar)
- cortland green spot dacron
- leader material
- ruler (i have lenghts on my wind on jig)
- super glue (ie loctite 401)
- paper clip (not always needed)

step 3-
measure out app 50cm of dacron and cut off.
now, measure app 20cm from one end and mark.
select suitably sized splicing needle

step 4:-
insert the splicing needle facing the long end and gently work it down
be careful. if it pops through the dacron, gently pull it back and try again

step 7:-
carefully pull the needle through and form a loop. slowly. dont close the loop

step 8:-
insert pen into loop. this will set the desired loop size. i like a small loop. use a different object if a different sized loop is desired

step 9:-
pull the eye of the needle through and out the end of the long section of dacron. keep hold of it as it can go back in. if you lose it inside the long section, you'll have to start again. doh

step 10:-
insert the correct sized hollow needle. the needle should fit snugly inside and it should not stretch the dacron too much.

step 11:-
insert hollow needle all the way through and push it out at the base of the loop. dont lose the open end, or start again

step 12:-
insert leader material
leader should fit nicely inside the needle. if too tight, use needle lube, if too loose, apply a SMALL dab of glue to end of mono and insert, squash the end of the mono to fatten it out

gently pull the needle all the way through and leave a short stub of leader material. apply a drop of glue, a small drop

gently pull leader back through so stub with glue is contained within dacron.
smooth out dacron over leader material, should look like this

put the leader and dacron into the jig. alternatively, do something else, i dunno lol
jig makes it very easy
