Samurai 302 for breaming?

Anybody used one for breaming? Mainly wanting to know if it's got the tip softness to feel picky bream bites?

My samurai 201's are lacking some power... want something with abit more balls.

Be matching it to a 2500 SOL for now.

Cheers

I have a 302, I use it mainly for throwing surface (sammy's, sugapens etc). I wouldnt touch it for cranks unless they were fairly heavy.

You must be nailing some big fish to be finding the 201's a bit light.

It's not so much the size of the fish, they are just angry fish in very snaggy areas...

WA people who fish the Blackwood a lot would understand.

But yeah, I run 10lb braid and 8lb FC rock on the 201 with a 2000 SOL and get smoked heaps....

So just want to be able to turn the fish a little more.

Well one thing is for sure it will turn them way easier than what you are using, it is a big step up in weight than the 201. But the feel is a lot different at the same time, I wouldnt call them sensitive.

Are you fishing plastics or hard bodies?

Plastics, vibes, and deep hards.

It's a shame that there is nothing between the 2-6lb 201 and 6-12lb 302.

4-8lb Samurai would be sweet....

It wouldnt be totally unsuitable, but your casting distance on anything under 5g will be pretty average, not that you should be too worried fishing vibes they cast like bullets anyway.

Loomis DSR GLX maybe a better option...

Loomis doesn't have camo grips... and that's a serious issue haha.

I'd say over winter, when most of the big smoking happen I'm fishing vibes anyway, so casting probably isn't an issue anyway.

And I've always got the 201 sitting there if I need.

LOL well in that case go the 302. You wont have an issue casting vibes with it at all.

203 is better suited for hards and has a slower taper.

The 302 will do the job and balances really well with a 2500 SOL. I do have 24lb braid on mine and use it for slightly different purposes now, but it was my main rod for the Forster bream GF and pulled some nice fish out of the racks

Cheers,
Paul

Makes an excellent rack rod. But also will make a a good heavy vibe rod.

My local reckons there should be a 4-8lb samurai on the cards? I personally wouldnt use my 302 for breaming. I much prefer for bigger faster fish. I have mine matched to a 2500 certate so a sol would suit nicely as well.

Sounds like it'll be OK for the more aggressive style skull dragging...
