Question Toray Saltline Lightfish?

Hey Gang,

I'm after a braided line. I've been having trouble seeing my Daiwa TD Sensor orange braid on overcast days and under structure etc.

I'm thinking white might be a better choice for this and will also look sexc on the 2004 Certate I'll be getting.

I was looking at either Super PE 6lb in white or the Toray Saltline lightfish in 5lb white. Has anyone used this braid? Any comments?

My setup: Gloomis DSR GLX 4-8lb with a Daiwa Certate 2004. Running 3-8lb flouro leader. Mainly using it for vertical structure, toons, jettis, hulls and just about everything else where I need a little extra grunt compared to the flats.

Will be fishing mainly placcies but will use it for just about everything.

Thanks guys any input is much appreciated as I don't have much experience with many braids other than TD Sensor.

hey mate,

The Toray Lightfish is one of the nicer bream lines on the market in australia at the moment. Its very thin and casts like a dream, but the thinness can be a bit of a disadvantage when fishing plastics and blades, its like spider web it just floats in the air, tip rap has been a problem in the past when fishing on slack line. But for crank baits, jerk baits and surface its pretty unbeatable.

I would recommend tying a slim-beauty with this line, just seems to hold better.

cheers alex

If it's anything like Toray Radius then i'm sure it's quality.
I use Radius on my Fuego and DSR GLX and love it. Knot strength is good, retains it's colour pretty well, rarely get wind knots.
These come in 200m spools and the line colour changes every 25m. Since you have a 2004 spool, you could probably spool it with mono backing and 100m of Radius. 100m of quality 10lb is plenty for bream and you could put the other half on another reel

btw - the only downside i found was the red sections seem to bleed colour the first few times you use it. it sucks getting that red on the cork of a new Loomis rod

Other option would be Toray Shallow Finesse,
Same PE ratings as Light Fish but higher breaking strain and i tend to find it ties better knots and handles better.

Although it is more expensive

This is my go-to favourite breaming braid

G'day guys much appreciate the input.

I'd like to go as light as I can get away with.

I'll definitely check the Toray Shallow finesse out. Hoping it comes in white. Price is no issue. Any ideas on best place to buy it?

Joelozzy

Have a look on our website www.fish-tecsolutions.com and it will give you a list of our suppliers there may be one in your area. The other option would be to ask your local tackle store to order it in for you.

Regards

Hey Fish Tec cheers for that.

I'm pretty settled on the Lightfish in 5lb.

Was considering maybe something heavier to avoid the line catching the wind too much. Need to keep that placcy as close to the structure as possible after I've casted.

Hmmm choices!

Will do for sure Locke.

Awesome Thanks for the feedback Benny? What lb did you go with?

Thinking 5lb for me fishing vertical structure. Should be plenty tough enough.

I've got the 5lb on my ultra light set up and I reckon its pretty good for that purpose. It lays well and I can't remember ever having a wind knot.
Just beware, it breaks pretty much at the stated breaking strain and not well over like a lot of other braids.
