I'm using a Phlueger Trion 7 foot 1-3kg and although it's a cheapie it works fine. Down the track though I'll be looking at a Loomis or a Nitro Vapor.

I brought a 101 about two weeks ago, and I gotta say I love it, it's rated as a fast taper, but IMHO it's medium/fast so it can work jerkbaits, poppers etc effectively aswell lures more suited to a fast taper.
It's quite ballsy for it rating too.
I'm running a daiwa fuego 2000 and it balances perfectly. Just another option.
Cheers stealth

Agreed mate, I run the exact same setup and love it, trying to stop myself from buying another 101 at the moment, but they are just so fun

I've got the Trion 1-3kg. Not a bad little rod. I have a 2-6lb Loomis too. It too is a nice rod.

A lot of people over look the new Tcurve Revolutions because they don't have the fuji guides, the ones they come with do the job just fine. I have the 7'2, 1-3kg Tcurve and love it, I have more expensive rods with the good guides but still prefer Tc for all my light fishing, there very underrated in my eyes.

I have a Loomis S842-2. It was one of a special run made purposely for breaming with a extra short butt grip.
It's rated at 2-4kg but it fishes 2kg perfect.
It's heaps softer than my DSR 8200 which they rate at 2-6lb.

what he said but would rate the 101 as much better.

also have an SR-842 and the above two rods are definitely lighter in action

if you want more exotic, i also have a graphiteleader calzante 7'3 2-6lb and i'd rate that above all for what you want to do as it has a super light tip, k guides and looks sexy

lots of rods and differing opinions .. i say just buy and try lol

I've owned a few different high-end ultra light rods, generally running 2 or 3 lb fluoro on a 1000 sized reel.
My present version is this http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/p...e-elzs-66.html
It is beautifully crafted, noodley with a fish on but stiff and reactive for casting small lures miles... I've landed some rather big carp on it just for fun!
Spending an extra 100 or 200 dollars on a top-shelf ultralight rod is really worth it when you can get something as exquisitely crafted as some of the JDM trout-stream rods...
