Lox Yoshi 6'6"

Hey guys, going to save up for a new rod now that i have the essential lures. Was looking at the Lox in my local and they feel wicked!! What reels have you got matched to them and are they more a hards or SP rod?? What other rods are there around for the same price ($250 max) that would be good for chucking HB's around?? It will need some grunt for the bigger bream. looking for something that is 6'6"-7' for chucking HB's around in close quarters.

Hey mate, I have been using a lox for a while now, and I have got to say it is the best rod I have used, I have the 1-3kg version, 6"6. Its good for both HB's and SP's I like using it for both and have found it cast well with both. I have it matched with a 1000 Symetre, but a 1500 Dawia would be even better I reckon. Other rods you could look at would be Dawia Black Labels, Nitros, Spellbinders.

For a bit more money i'd go with a DSR820S.
But i've owned a Lox 1-3kg and they're awesome for the price.
I used mine mainly for plastics and unweighted surface plastics. They're not very ballsy but i don't think you'll have any regrets buying one.

ah alright then. when you say the DSR820S do you mean just the standard Gloomis with no labelling??(as in its not classed as a GL2 or GLX)

Don't mean to be a bubble burster but my wife has a Lox Yoshi - LS6623 1-3kg and although it is a really nice rod to flick small lures, the tip broke off with no explainable reason. We are super careful with our bream gear and when we spoke to the shop about it they commented that they had a run of Lox do the same thing. Can buy a replacement tip section but have opted to just put a guide on the end and use it as is. Now it feels more like a 2-4 than a 1-3.

I recon they're pretty ballsy I've never had any probs handling fish on mine got plenty of bream and pinkies and even a bunch of carp over 3kg's and it handled them fine id get one. Great 4 plastics but I also use mine for hards with no plolems i like a stiffer rod any ways get a 2000 sized daiwa for it mines got a 2000 sol awsome combo.

Alright sweet, will feel both rods with various reels on 'em to see what i like better. @redfinfisho-that looks like a sick setup mate!!

Have the 7ft'r also. Matched it to a 2000 size Heartland. Love it, but i wouldnt be using it in tiger country trying to pull out large bream. I reckon the bream will win every time.
Dont have a loomis so cant comment there, but the Livefibre Blade n tails ultra light I do use see's me winning more often than not.

I really rate the loxs, alot better than some big name sticks.
There light, sensitive, good taper, great all round bream rod.
Have more balls then it feels like it would, when u pick one up.
I use the seven footers.
Have landed some sizable trevally an Jew fish on mine.
I'll post up a pic when I finish work.
I haven't had any problems with the tips breaking. Only 1 and it was my fault.
Line wrapped and dropped the fish=snap.
Getting a new tip was so easy who cares?
Ring number pay fifty bucks, 3 days later new tip. Plus 2 free beanies.
Recommend Lox rods to anyone who treats there gear well.

Now this is really tough!! Lox or GLoomis

They both are great rods, will have to wait till i go to the shops next i guess to feel both of 'em.

do a search on lox, plenty of heated threads... then make ur decision...

but remeber if heeps of people are talking about breaking tips that was on the older ones not the new ones I've had mine over a year and never had a single problem with the tip they're as solid as any other rod.

I agree with a lot of the points here as I used it last winter on the bream and some true line peeling trevally, not to mention some oversized tailor that were cruising the flats between the racks and the kayak. I rated it really highly and found it fought out of its weight class at times.
We were rather disappointed that it broke as easily as it did and unfortunately were told it was a lot more than $50 to repair it hence we didn't bother.

2 beanies would be nice though seeing as I have a bald head.
