Samurai or GLX?

G'day guys

Im looking to lash out and get myself a high end rod for plastics fishing for flathead, estuary perch and bream. I really like the Samurai 201 estuary but i also have always wanted a loomis GLX. Any suggestions? also which model GLX should i be looking at? I come from a fly fishing background so ive had experience with the glx fly rods but not the spinning ones.

Any suggestions wqould be greatly appreciated

I would get a Miller or Duff if I was looking at that sort of rod.

$600.00 and you get it exactly how you want it. Miller and Duff make very different rods I would look at both. I like both of these makes and you get exactly what you want and dont have recoils strippers or tips!

The X820DSi is my favourite rod I have ever used and I am so happy with them. they can come with any grip you want. I suggest the comfort grip ( I think its called) Aero seat? It fits perfect in your hand. Green Blue or red in Camo, black or cork grips
your choice of guides

Cheers
Chris

I do agree BB yuck recoils on the DSR GLX. and would LOVE a miller but my next rod will be a NITRO Vapour 70 7ft 1-3kgs they are so nice so light and with tons of grunt above there weight . just another option to throw in the mix .

i have a samurai and a dsr820 GLX and love both but find that i cant put the GLX down! fantastic rod but i got mine For $195 almost brand new and if i was to spend the huge amount they are brand new i would seriously consider the extra for a duff from all reports ive heard..

Yep for sure, for the money new I would even think of getting either of those rods over a custom. As I said the Millers and Duffs are fairly different, I find the X series in the Duffs alot of balls and a resonable light tip (they are X fast). This suits me very much.

I had a Miller XF classic and it was a very very good rod for throwing light plastics when close to structure. They seem a bit light for structure but I have pulled plenty out of docks with this rod and cant remember a single bust off. Trust me its the pick for hulls and potoons in the Miller range.

They can be hard to check out if you dont know anyone with one as most shops do not stock either. If you where is Sydney you could have came out for a fish and tried some of my Duffs, I checked your in gipsland so it would be a hectic drive

Cheers
Chris

But think of the new spots you could fish hahaha

The fuel money would cost as much as a rod

It could be worth contacting Steve Duff and seeing who stocks them. I know Fisherman's Hut had his rods when they were open.

P.S. Personally I like the Samurai rods

Samurai 201, or a custom, for some reason all the Gloomis rods I have felt arn't up to scratch for what their worth ( I may be weird but i just don't like them) I think you pay allot more for just the name than the rod itself....

Had a play with a dsr yesterday and i have to say i agree with you. I perfer the feel of the 201. not saying that the dsr was a bad rod, just didnt feel that great
