Explosive morning at tally

Hey guys, so i decided to go for a bream flick at 4am this morning to a spot of mine at the back of tally.

I only brought bream gear with me as i thought it was all i would need, i was wrong.

Firstly when i got there a bull shark about 3ish feet swam itself ashore after a school of mullet, it was amazing to see.
Then i threw out a cranka crank in salmon guts and about the third cast go smashed by a mangrove jack, i could see the flashes of red but couldnt do anything on 4lb line haha
Next up i upgraded to 6lb line and threw on a scum dog, first cast got nailed by a giant herring i estimated t be about 1m from the jump, could not control it and after about 10 seconds it took nearly all the line of my gekkabijin with its 2kg of drag nothing could be done and the line snapped, luckily at the leader.

All of this was in about a 10 minute time frame, next time i go down im taking my heavier gear for sure haha

That must have been a real buzz Tom - if you've got a video camera set it up before your first cast. I've got some great video of bass strikes this season taking a punt that the fish were there so got the video going before the first cast. One fish came on the 2nd cast while another took 5 mins plus before I got the action. You can always delete the footage if nothing happened but I'll tell you what you'll be watching it over and over if you do get some on video. I've made a lanyard through a neoprene stubbie holder and hang it around my neck so your looking down the rod you just got to remember to keep your arms out the way. I also have a small tri pod with flexible legs that I wrap around a tree branch and point it in the direction of the destined casts so you can see me to the right of the screen and the snag fills the rest of the screen. Something that happens so quick can be paused or slowed down if you have the editing software (I don't have) and you can see things you would normally miss. I've got a lightning strike on the water at a spot I was fishing during a thunderstorm and the strike would have only been less than a hundred metres away it looks awesome when still - imagine what the Giant Herring would have looked like mid air !!!! Cheers Pat

Sounds like the best day out for a fisherman apart from lossing some lures. what happened to the bull shark aftr it got beached?

That sort of thing where you bring limited tackle and catch or hook big fish always happens and it is fun whilst it lasts.

Yea i so regret not bring a video camera
Well the shark swam itself up to about 20cm of water and was about 90% exposed and it was going nuts, and it eventually made it back to the water, if i had of been feeling a bit more brave i would of gone over to help it but it was early morning and was not in the mood for a shark bite haha.
