Bow mount question

This may sound like a stupid question but how do the bow mount electric motors fit on your hull if you don't have a base plate fitted? Are there screw on type base plates available?

All the major brands come supplied with a base plate that needs to be bolted down.
This then allows the Leccy to be mounted and removed.
I not sure what you mean by screw on base?
But I don't think you will be able to mount the electric motor without a base plate.

When you say base plate fitted, Are you talking about the quick release bracket? You can fit the bowmount without one but I wouldnt advise it. Would be a complete pain in the ring hole if you ever want to do something to it off the boat.

You've answered my question Tassie Bream I wasn't sure whether the base plates came with the motors in the first place and if they did whether they would be screw down or bolt on. Cheers mate.

I should have elaborated more, I don't mean the base plate you get with the motor, I meant the dedicated part of the hull like on some hornet trophy's that is designed for electric motor base plate mounting, does that make sense?

I dont have a qucik release bracket and never have and I have had about 6 electric motors now. If you cant undo 3 or 4 bolts theres a problem. Unless they are rusted on!! that does happen.

You can put it on no worries at all. It makes it harder for some one to steel in the case of a cable steer as the pedal is bolted to the deck in most cases. It involves a fair amount of work to get off but worth it to keep your electric!

I dont have a quick release bracket either and have never found an issue if i need to remove my leccy. a few bolts and its off. I'm the same thinking too - it might make it a bit harder to pinch and people won't be so inclined to try to do so...

T Curve my boat didn't come with an electric mount but went to a local boat builder and they welded one on. Looks good and works a treat.

Mine is just padlocked to the release bracket using a factory hole.
I guess padlocked to the bolted release bracket or just bolted down without one, if they want to steal it they will.
