Would be very interested on a user report when you get it. I am also considering one to match up with a medium light casting rod I have. I am interested in throwing light SBs. Can't find a review on the web about the reel's ability to handle such light baits/lures.

Mate I don't know which abu garcia website you read that stated it is saltwater safe.

If you had followed the news of these two reels (both MGX and LTX),

At first (around March), they were released as saltwater safe according to purefishing.jp website (had both freshwater and saltwater icon).

But later, they changed them to only with freshwater icon and stated "freshwater only" (check the word [淡水専用]).

I don't know why. Perhaps when they first made the webpages they forgot about they were made of magnesium. (First time for Abu, usually their BC reels got aluminium frame).

Personally I would not take the risk, unless you will and you know how to take good care of it after each trip.

Cheers.

LTX is made for casting light lures.

Abus website is a bit unclear as far as saltwater use goes. I ended up buying a Revo Inshore because it definately states that it is for saltwater use.

Thats a great price considering they are $350 in the states. I also remember them having the new stradic fjs for $189 which is better then Mo Tackle & many others.
