What do you guys think of the Okuma Trio 20?
Hey Guys,
Don't know if you guys would have a Okuma trio 20 if so what do you think of it in regards to trout and bream fishing? Is it smooth?

Pretty smooth. Great trout sream reel. Get it free if you subscrib to fishing world magazine. Okuma are an under rated product, their rods are very whippy though

I would get a Sienna instead. I had one and used it for Bream and was a great little reel until Dad decided to "adopt" it.

No, seriously, although cheap as chips, Sienna's are good for the range. I'd reccomend the 2500 though to cover most "manageable" situations as the 4000 would be a bit heavy for bream fishing... Hope it helps.

I'd agree with you on this. Although most of the time I'd chase tailors, snappers and skippys as well and I'm too lazy to carry 2 rigs with me, hence 2500. But yes, I'd recommend the 1000 as well! Great, great reel! But what's your opinion on Shimano giving it a "facelift" by putting the drag behind - As I've seen on the 2012 catalogue?

I had one and had quite a few issues with line management with it. Got sick of it throwing windknots so got rid of it. It felt nice enough, maybe i just had a bad run. Have very few issues with windknots on any of my reels, and i tried both fins and bass hard on the trio, so that kind of narrows it down to the reel. If it was me id look at something else, like a stradic fi getting cleared out cheap, or save a bit more.

Personally, I wouldn't consider anything that isn't Daiwa or Shimano.

Trio
I own one and dont have a drama, if its in your budget, get it lifetime warranty, Lets not make this a Daiwa/ Shimano debate if you have never owned one dont comment negatively on something you've never touched

I owe 2 Stella 1000 FD's a 2004 Exist, Certate Custom Finesse 2004 and 2x Certate 1500.
I tried the Okuma trio 20 expecting it to be a dog and I was very impressed. I bought two and matched them to Shimano Adroits (I think they are now called jewels) that I just got for friends and family to use. I have no hesitation recommending them as honest affordable reel. Regards, Gerard |
